Kenneth Responds to Senator Sonko's Claims that He Offered Him Sh1 Billion

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth has dismissed claims that he offered Senator Mike Sonko Sh1 Billion to drop his bid for the governor's seat in the capital.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kenneth expressed shock at the claims noting that it was even “Difficult to respond to lies by an individual.”

Addressing a gathering at Kiria-ini town, Murang'a County on Sunday, Sonko alleged that the former Gatanga MP approached him but he declined the offer.

“After I said no, he called Nairobi MPs in Gatanga and tried to persuade them to endorse him. They tried to call the other aspirants to step down for him but they refused,” the senator alleged.

During an interview on Tuesday at Kameme FM, Sonko went ahead and stated that he will not work with Kenneth under Jubilee until he publicly apologised to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"We all know Kenneth was one of the people who wanted the President to stop his bid and focus on the [ICC] case… That is not something we will forgive easily. He must issue a public apology," the flamboyant senator affirmed.

Kenneth has faced a fierce rebellion from some Jubilee leaders after he declared on Sunday that he will vie for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

Among those who are opposed to Kenneth's bid include Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants; Sonko, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru and Bishop Margret Wanjiru.

The anti-Kenneth group claim the former Gatanga MP has neither supported President Kenyatta nor campaigned for him since he ascended to power.
