Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Soldier Allegedly Captured in Somalia Sends Chilling Message to President Uhuru and Margaret Kenyatta

An emotional video of a man believed to be born in Kiambu and alleged to be a captured Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier in Somalia, has surfaced online.

In the video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the man identified as David Ngugi Wataari pleads with President Uhuru Kenyatta and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, not to let him and his colleagues die like the case of another Ugandan Prisoner of War (PoW).

Ngugi, clad in KDF uniform and a Kenyan flag insignia on his left arm, pleads with the First Lady to constantly remind the President of their plight after they were captured in El Adde, Somalia.

Ngugi says that they face imminent death if they are not rescued, citing the case of a Ugandan soldier identified as Masasa who had also been captured by the insurgents.

In the chilling reminder, Ngugi says that the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, forgot Masasa and he was summarily executed by the Al Shabaab fighters.

The soldier pleads with President Uhuru Kenyatta not to follow the path Museveni went, but instead secure their release from Somalia.

Ngugi alludes to the fact that he might be among a group of other captured KDF soldiers after they were ambushed and overpowered in El Adde.

The soldier, with a visibly damaged eye, is believed to be among a group allegedly captured on the 15th of January 2016 after their battalion was overrun by the militants in El Adde.

The number of casualties usalities and those captured has not been officially confirmed by the KDF except that the unit that came under attack was of a battalion size.
