Kenyan Pastor Arrested on His Wedding Day

A Kenyan pastor who allegedly impregnated a 17-year-old girl and later killed her was arrested while preparing to tie the knot with his Ugandan fiancee.

Charles Nyachwara a former pastor at Kibomet Africa Inland Church in Kitale, was nabbed last week by Interpol officers who had been trailing him for the last five years.

The 'man of God' was preparing to walk down the aisle with his Ugandan sweetheart at a church he had just opened in Mbale Town.

Nyachwara is said to have fled the country to Tanzania before settling in Uganda where he changed his citizenship.

He is alleged to have killed the teenager by stabbing her multiple times after she refused to abort the baby.

Before killing her, the girl had already confessed to his parents and other clergy members that Nyachwara was responsible for her pregnancy.

He was charged with defilement in 2011 and released on bond.

According to police, the murder was committed while the pastor was out on bond.

The clergyman was arraigned before the Kitale law courts on Monday where he was charged with murder.

Nyachwara remains in police custody.
