In the Kenyan political scene, children of politicians are known to maintain a low-key life away from the public eye.
While some have been brought to the fore inadvertently and in not-so-pleasant situations, others have been thrust into the limelight by their sheer hard work and success.
Kenyans.co.ke compiled a list of politicians' daughters who have set themselves apart and are swimming in the pool of their own achievements.
1. Lupita Nyong'o
Top on the list is award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, who is the daughter of Kisumu County Senator Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o.
Lupita, who is now a Hollywood star began her career as a production assistant.
In 2013, she became the first Kenyan and Mexican Actress to ever win an academy award in Hollywood after she featured in the historical drama 12 Years a Slave.

2. Wanja Michuki
Wanja Michuki is a daughter to the late Minister and Member of Parliament for Kangema Constituency, John Michuki.
Wanja is the founder of the Highlands Tea company.
She has used tea production to help provide a source of income and education for farmers in Kenya.
The company is a member of the Specialty Tea Institute (STI), a division of the Tea Association of the United States of America (USA).

3. Susan Kihika
Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Wakarura Kihika is born to the late Nakuru veteran Politician, Dickson Kihika Kimani who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Nakuru North, Laikipia West and Molo constituencies.
Ms Kihika is a trained advocate and founder of the Kihika Law Firm based in Dallas that specializes in Immigration Defence.
Kihika is looking to unseat incumbent Nakuru County Senator James Mungai in the August 8 poll after she was declared the winner in the Jubilee Party senatorial nominations.

4. Ruth Odinga
Rosemary Odinga is the second born child of former Prime Minister and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga.
Ms Odinga is an entrepreneur and the only snail farmer in East Africa.
She is also the Executive Director of Raila Odinga Center (ROC), a foundation that provides scholarships in East Africa, training young leaders and developing youth sports talents.
Ms Odinga was in the race for the Kibera parliamentary seat but was advised by her doctor to drop out after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February.

5. Nimo Njonjo
She is the daughter of Veteran Politician and Former Attorney General of Kenya Charles Njonjo.
Nimo is a lawyer by profession and has practiced criminal law at the London bar for quite a number of years.
She, however, dropped her career after she came back to Kenya and is currently the Operations Manager of East African Whale Shark.
She is an enthusiastic diver and a fully qualified PADI diving instructor.
