Kenyan Public School with Tightest Security

A public secondary school in Embu County, which has over 1,800 students, has astonished residents after going an extra mile to manage security.

Nyangwa High School in Mbeere South has bought 5 German Shepherd dogs trained by the police unit.

The school has further installed CCTV cameras to monitor the movement of students and any visitors within and around the school.

In addition, the guards at Nyangwa Boys School are trained by Administration Police (AP) officers to help avert and detect students who might be planning riots.

The principal, Musyoka Moshe, expresses that the security measures at the institution were put in place three years ago and have improved security at the school.

Moshe notes that the students' performance has also improved as a result of a safe environment.

“The boys are relaxed and comfortable that the school is well secured hence able to concentrate on class work. Our performance has moved from a mean of 6.2 points to 9.5 points in the last five years,” Mr Moshe was quoted by the Daily Nation.

The principal has encouraged other schools to desist from employing the elderly as guards and at the same time failing to motivate them.
