Kenyans Attack FKF Chairman After Harambee Loss

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman has faced the wrath of Kenyans after Harambee Stars lost to Guinnea Bissau on Wednesday night.

The new FKF boss Nick Mwendwa had taken to social media to defend the national team following the 1-0 loss, stating that they would win in the near future and not at the moment.

“At no time did I promise we shall win a lot in these first years. We shall build from ground up and that I said will take more time!” Mwendwa said.

This statement did not go down well with many Kenyans, who expected the new team to make some progress, as the country has taken too long without taking part in a major football competition.

Some Kenyans told off Mwendwa, asking him to stop talking too much and act on the team while others claimed that the Kariobangi Sharks owner was performing the technical bench's tasks.

Others took a swipe at Harambee Stars coach Stanley Okumbi, alleging that the latter was unprofessional and that he was easily manipulated by the FKF Chairman.

“Harambee stars will loose even to migingo island fc if its even there..for harambee stars to win we need a proffessional coach period!” Collins Bommet wrote.

“It’s easier to build a multi billion Standard Gauge Railway from Mombasa toMalaba than for #HarambeeStars to rise up to national expectation,” Saddique Shaban, a sports journalist posted.

“#OkoaKenya I mean harambee stars” Tafari mchelsea expressed.

"I said @Nickmwenda represented nyamweyaism, some doubted, it is still mediocrity, corruption and cronism same hire of jet&joyriders #HarambeeStars,” he added.

“Far too many #HarambeeStars coaches on these streets. Same Kenyans/ sports journos who went gaga over FKF boss, his team & coach. Euphoria,” veteran Standard journalist Clay Muganda opined.

“Headless chicken, casual, pedestrian mostly and ultimately deserving of that loss. #ChoicesHaveConsequences #HarambeeStars,” stated sports journalist Watson Karuma.

The Stars team are now at the bottom of the group after picking only one point from three matches. The team lost to Zambia, Guinea Bissau and drew with Congo last year.
