Kenya's Trending Topics on Saturday April 8th, 2017

Here are the trending topics today.

#KabogoTena

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has been trending on twitter as he realigns himself to retain his seat ahead of the August polls.

Kabogo, who has been embroiled in a showdown with his arch rival, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, was trending after pollsters projected that he would most likely retain his seat.

Most of those who commented under the hashtag highlighted some of the achievements attained under Kabogo's administration.

In a duel that is set to play out today, the Governor is expected to hold a rally a Thika Stadium, while Waititu will address supporters at Ndenderu stadium.

#Kenya7s

This has been the top trend after Kenya Rugby Sevens team pulled a major surprise with a win over France in Hong Kong series.

Kenya got the feat after trouncing France 29-12. The team was, however, earlier on beaten by Canada before being humbled by South Africa with a 35-10 score.

The string of poor results has seen many question the level of the team's preparedness.

Alcoblow

The topic has been trending after Kenyans took to social media to celebrate a court of appeal ruling that stopped the use of breathalysers on Kenyan roads.

The court stated that the use of the gadget to arrest drunk drivers was inconsistent with the Traffic Act, hence illegal.

President Kenyatta

This trend was inspired by President Uhuru Kenyatta's latest in-roads all over the country to popularise the Jubilee party and the intrigues of the party as it prepared for the upcoming nomination.
