Kenyatta Family's Mediamax Company to Launch Kameme TV in February

The Kenyatta family is set to increase their interests in the television industry as they prepare to launch a new vernacular television station in February.

Through Mediamax Network Company, the family will go live with Kameme TV, a sister station to their Kikuyu language FM station that goes by the same name.

Mediamax is preparing itself to get a share of the lucrative market of vernacular TV viewership, especially in Nairobi and in the Mt Kenya regions.

Royal Media Services has been enjoying the market leadership status with the recently launched Inooro TV.

Other players in this market include Njata and Three Stones.

Mediamax is also hoping to use the new station to complement K24, their other platform that has recently been struggling with low ratings.

The Kenyatta family has been using the media company to leverage the political support of President Uhuru Kenyatta, as well as leveraging on their multi-sector businesses.
