Kibaki's Aide Stanley Murage Offers Sh13.3 Billion for Majority Stake in RVR

An aide who worked for former President Mwai Kibaki is leading a consortium of investors who are seeking to purchase an 80 per cent stake at the Rift Valley Railways (RVR) for Sh13.3 Billion.

Stanley Murage’s group wants to buy the shareholding currently held by Qalaa Holding which had invited bidders for its stake.

Project management firm Armstrong & Duncan, chaired by Kibaki’s advisor, is one of the four companies that have shown commitment to investing at RVR.

Murage was one of the most powerful individuals who worked in President Kibaki’s government.

He operated from State House where he worked as an advisor and strategist.

The businessman’s influence was recently captured in Kalonzo Musyoka’s autobiography Against All Odds.

Musyoka revealed that the deal that saw him work with Kibaki as Vice President was started off by Murage.

“One evening, just days to the election date, I was invited to dinner by Mr Narendra Raval Guru, the chairman of Devki Group of Companies...I arrived at his house and as we made small talk ahead of the meal, I was surprised to see Kibaki walk into the room in the company of Stanley Murage, his adviser and strategist,” Musyoka recalled.
