Kidero Explains How Politicians are Using Fires in Nairobi Estates to Gain Votes

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Tuesday alleged that the infernos that have been witnessed in Nairobi County are politically instigated.

Speaking in Mathare while consoling victims of a fire incident, Mr Kidero claimed that the fires were a ploy to relocate Nairobi voters ahead of the 2017 General Election.

He insisted that the 597 houses gutted down in Mabatini and the other 600 in Mathare Area Four cannot be coincidental.

"These fires become more frequent when we are approaching the elections period. We know that it is a political ploy to relocate our voters," Mr Kidero said.

During his visit, the Governor donated Sh500,000 to support the affected families and urged locals to refuse to be used by politicians.

Efforts by the Kenyans.co.ke to contact the County Office on whether investigations had been implemented to make the conclusion were futile.

The Mathare January 2 fire saw three people killed and property worth thousands of shillings destroyed.
