ODM leader Raila Odinga has been warned against linking former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru to the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.
A section of Kirinyaga leaders led by Peter Ndambiri, who is Ms Waiguru’s running mate in the county's governor race, told Odinga to stop accusing the former CS of corruption since she had not been charged.
The leaders stated that Waiguru had been cleared by investigative bodies hence Odinga should stop maligning her name.
“Our daughter has been cleared by various government agencies which were investigating the National Youth Service scandal and Mr Odinga should stop witch-hunting," noted Ndambiri.
The same was reiterated by James Gacing'a, a Gichugu parliamentary aspirant who expressed his anger cautioning the former Prime Minister against persisting on Waiguru's prosecution.
"He has been pushing for the arrest and prosecution of our daughter yet she has not stolen any money belonging to the taxpayers," Gacing'a affirmed.
The group spoke in response to an affidavit written by the Opposition leader in which Odinga sought to know the salary the ex-CS was earning between 2006 and 2015 when she worked in President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mwai Kibaki's government.
According to the signed affidavit, the ODM leaders also wanted Waiguru to explain her relationship with some of the people who are accused of benefiting from the scandal.
Odinga also asked the Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant to disclose the local and international bank accounts she owned and the amount of money in each.
The Opposition chief is said to have written the affidavit through his lawyer Paul Mwangi earlier in the month.
