Leave My Family Alone - Joho Tells Government

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has told the Jubilee administration to leave his family alone and not drag them into his woes.

Speaking after he was released from Urban Police Station where he was allegedly detained on Friday, Joho claimed that the government was harassing his family but maintained he would not be intimated.

“My family and friends must not be dragged into these issues. They should be left in peace and let me alone to suffer for this one year because I know it will end,” Joho affirmed.

The Mombasa Governor stated that he was arrested after he stormed the police station in the company of four Members of Parliament (MPs) to demand the release of his friend who had been arrested earlier.

"Hon. Rashid Bedzimba, Hon. Abdulswamad, Sharifff Nassir, Hon. Suleiman Dori and I were placed under arrest for alleged obstruction of arrest charges at the Coast Police Provincial Headquarters by one inspector Rop," Joho wrote on Facebook.

Joho alleged that police had raided his friend's house in Nyali and arrested him without any explanation.

“We will not relent in the fight for justice of our people nor deviate from the cause,” Joho told jubilant supporters who had camped outside the police station after his release.

Meanwhile, Joho sent away four bodyguards who had been reassigned to him by the State.
