Man Escapes Lynching For Climbing Electricity Pole

Residents of Ponda Mali, Bondeni area in Nakuru County today morning witnessed some drama when a middle aged man climbed a live power post, threatening to kill himself.

The man is said to have scaled the power post at 6.30 am demanding to be allowed to talk to the area OCS.

Residents speculated his reasons for climbing the post for hours as they tried to convince him to come back down.

According to NTV, he said that his attempt at suicide was caused by his wife who kept disturbing him.

KTN, however, reports that a host of reasons behind his actions were given, with some claiming he was angry after being denied alcohol.

When KPLC officials failed to convince him to climb down, police officers were called in.

The man finally came down after the area OCS promised not to arrest him.

The angry crowd was however not impressed with his antics and tried to lynch him.

Police had to fire in the air to disperse the enraged residents.

The man was taken to Bondeni Police Station.
