Man Hangs on Raila's Helicopter in Meru

A dramatic scene ensued in Meru County after a man hung on a helicopter carrying CORD leader Raila Odinga on Thursday evening.

The man is said to have clung on the plane as it left Maili Tatu grounds in Igembe Central, after a vote-hunting tour by the Opposition leader.

The unidentified man safely sat on the chopper's skid as it lifted into the air and flew for some metres as the plane gained momentum.

A surprised crowd watched in shock as the reckless man comfortably enjoyed his short flight.

The pilot noticed the presence of the man after flying for some distance and lowered the helicopter for him to jump off.

In 2016, a Bungoma man hit headlines after hanging on a similar plane and flew for close to a hundred metres before falling off.

41-year-old Saleh Wanjala, a boda-boda rider, dropped from the plane that had delivered the body of slain businessman Jacob Juma in Bungoma.

Despite cries and signals from the villagers, the pilot seemed not to notice the man hanging on the landing skid.

After falling from the plane, Wanjala was rushed to hospital following the injuries he had sustained. He injured his hip joint, elbow and also sustained a cut on the eyebrow.
