MCAs Cause Chaos Over 'Cheap' Mandazi for Lunch

Members of the Homa Bay County Assembly on Wednesday caused chaos after being offered soda and cheap mandazi for lunch.

The MCAs protested the lunch terming it a sign of disrespect considering their status and the role they had just accomplished - passing the county budget.

They turned on the organisers of the budget forum demanding to know why they were not entertained at the nearby Cold Spring Hotel or given cash.

“This is unacceptable to elected leaders. We are not school children to be treated to sodas and mandazi,” one of them vented.

County Executive Committee member for Finance David Okeyo had a hard time explaining to the MCAs why they had been treated like 'kindergarten kids or high school students'.

“Honourable members, we were not aware of such an arrangement. Allow us to consult with our superiors,” said Dr Okeyo.

Okeyo's plea fell on deaf ears as the representatives surged towards him demanding for answers. He was later whisked away by his aides.

The angry MCAs later walked away after realising that their demands could not be met.
