Members of the Bungoma County Assembly are a worried lot following speculations that bad luck may have hit the Assembly, this being sparked by the presence an owl and its owlets on the roof of the House.
Deputy Speaker Jane Chebet noted that the owl and the three owlets, which are now living in the Assembly ceiling, had scared a section of the MCAs who firmly believed that the bird signified bad omen.
The birds are said to have also appeared during a battle between CORD and Jubilee legislators over the Majority leader position.
The MCAs are now demanding that a ritual be carried out to cleanse the House from any bad luck, the Star reports.
They stated that a white bull should be slaughtered outside the Assembly and fire thrown at the bird.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the House Business Committee was also in agreement that the owls were creating tension in the Assembly.
