Mombasa Govenor Hassan Joho Abandons His Nyali Home, Gets New House

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has reportedly abandoned his luxurious home in Nyali after the recent withdrawal of his bodyguards.

The palatial home in which Joho had apparently been living for the past six years is now being occupied by a person who identified himself as Mohammed Khamisi.

Khamisi, who claims to be Joho's distant relative, told journalists that he moved into the house six days ago after the Governor moved out.

On Thursday, police officers deployed to guard the Mombasa Governor went to the Nyali home but Mr Khamisi denied them access noting: "I do not need any guards since I have my own private guards from a security firm."

"I am Joho's distant relative and I am the new tenant. I now occupy this house. I do not plan to take any action but ask whoever is responsible for the security tell them I am not in need," Khamisi insisted.

Joho's Communication director, Richard Chacha, divulged that: "The AP guards went to the wrong house and that is where they have been since Monday night. The Governor shifted some days back. He has already hired another team for his new home."

Mr Chacha added that the Governor moved to a more secure place where he could live comfortably without the need for security,

On Wednesday, Mr Joho was forced to drive himself to the Bomas of Kenya where the Opposition was holding a grand meeting.

"I want to put a stop to this conversation about security. I've asked Jubilee not to give me security," Joho stated.
