Mombasa Road Accident Between Malili and Salama Towns Might Have Been Caused by a Snake - Survivor Says

At least 8 people perished in a grisly road accident on Thursday morning along Mombasa-Nairobi highway and it has now emerged that it might have been caused by a snake.

This is according to Ms Elizabeth Mwongeli, a survivor who stated that just before the crash she heard the driver shout that he had seen a big snake.

“The driver was avoiding a snake...I heard him shout before he swerved and hit a lorry. I don’t know if the snake was hit," she told the Daily Nation.

The accident occurred after a Nairobi-bound matatu collided head-on with a lorry between Malili and Salama towns.

According to police reports, 12 other passengers were seriously injured in the accident.

The accident came just two days after another accident happened on the same highway at Kibwezi area that killed 26 people.

Kibwezi Police boss Leonard Kimaiyo confirmed the incident stating that it was a head-on collision between a bus and a truck.
