MP Accused of Rape 'Finds God'

Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has declared his submission to Jesus and vowed to lead the narrow path away from darkness.

Mwiti, who is facing rape charges in court, announced his transformation on Thursday in an interview with Capital Fm at a Nairobi Hotel.

The lengthy interview that almost turned into a summon, saw the MP speak passionately about his new faith with citing a lot of inferences from the Bible.

“Jesus has raised me from the dead. He did not care about how many days Lazarus had spent in the grave or how much his body stunk but he used him for his glory,” the saved MP preached.

He asserted that as a new follower of Christ he intends to be a preacher in the future so that he can give people the experience of his life as a testimony.

He declared to have sold his liquor business as he wants nothing to do with the drink anymore. He is a new man, willing to walk in the light of God, the narrow path that leads to eternal bliss.

He urged the government to reslove its fight against second generation alcohol and strictly regulate first generation alcohol saying it's being abused.

Mwiti said he is preparing to reveal the good news of his turn-around to his constituents through meetings in the coming weeks.

He is also planning to open churches in the area.

The rape case against him has been suspended pending determination of an application seeking to stop the Director of Public Prosecutions from prosecuting him.
