Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed reports linking him to the already crowded Nairobi gubernatorial race.
Speaking during a radio interview on Tuesday morning, Mudavadi stated that he was still in the race for NASA's presidential flagbearer ticket.
The ANC leader assured that he would not run for any other position even if he failed to clinch the Alliance's ticket.
At the same time, he stated that he would stick to NASA and support whoever would be selected to fly its flag in the August 8 General Election.
He explained that as the founder of the Alliance, he would not abandon his colleagues Raila Odinga, Moses Wetang’ula and Kalonzo Musyoka despite the outcome of the presidential nominations.
“A good parent is one who fends for his children under whatever circumstances, as a good parent, I cannot give birth to a child and then abandon it midstream,” he stated.
The ANC leader disclosed that they are yet to decide on their presidential candidate adding that they are not in a rush to unveil the flagbearer.
“We are not in a hurry to name our flagbearer. What is more important is that we create an atmosphere where all the parties under Nasa feel well represented and their interests well taken care of. We know there are people out there who are sharpening their knives in readiness to here who our presidential candidate is,” he stated.
He further dismissed the notion that NASA was planning on amending the constitution to create more positions to be shared among the various leaders joining the Alliance.
