Muranga County Governor Mwangi Wa Iria Reveals Governor's Are to Blame For High Food Prices

Muranga County chief Mwangi Wa Iria has surprisingly revealed that Governor's countrywide should be blamed for the high food prices in the Country and not President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Governor further stated that the opposition should stop pointing figures at the government over the rise of food prices in the country since agriculture was a devolved function and it was the responsibility of the governors, not the National Government.

"It is not the responsibility of the President to reduce unga prices. It is upon the governors to ensure that their people are food secure.

“Instead of pointing an accusing finger at the President they should point the same finger in their direction. He cannot take responsibility for all the problems while we have devolved units,” he stated.

He further emphasised that every governor had the constitutional responsibility to ensure that food prices are reduced and improve the living standard of the people in the respective counties

The Muranga boss further blamed his counterparts for being failures in their respective counties and thus contributing to the current situation.

Mr Wa Iria, explained the only way in which his colleagues could solve the mess was by improving food production through taming of food prices as mandated to them by the constitution.

Wa Iria has been on the front line of increasing food production in Murang'a county. He has severally given manure and fertilizers to farmers to increase the yields.

The County boss was speaking at the Ihura stadium in Murang'sa where Jubilee certificates were being issued,.
