Musician Charles Kanyi Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, has come out to provide new details on an incident where it is alleged that a man was brutally killed by a mob during his political rally in Ziwani on Saturday.
Police had claimed that Jaguar was campaigning in Ziwani where he gave a youth group an unknown amount of money.
According to the police, the leader of the group grabbed the money and ran away, but was pursued and captured by the irate mob which beat him to death.
In an interview with Radio Jambo, however, Jaguar distanced himself with the killing stating that he toured the area on a goodwill mission to donate car washing machines through his Jaguar Foundation.
He firmly stated that he neither set foot in the area where the incident happened nor give out cash to anyone at any moment.
“I was told the man was killed at 7;30, but I was out of the place by 5;30. I never visited the place where he was killed. I never gave out cash to anyone. I just went there to give out car wash machines. The reports are mere propaganda,” Jaguar explained.
Police are still investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Jaguar is set to contest for the Starehe Parliamentary in the upcoming August 8 polls.
