Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Friday revealed that Opposition leader Raila Odinga stole the dreams and dignity of residents of Kibra area in the name of fighting corruption.
According to the Professor, the National Youth Service (NYS) had two types of 'thieves'. The first type ate with their mouths open and stole cash in sacks whereas the second lot of 'thieves' are those individuals who were against development and hence stole the dreams of Kibra people to maintain their "principalities of poverty".
"Our mission for Kibra was to eradicate the 'poverty of dignity' where people would wake up in the morning and do a 'long call' into a shopping plastic bag. We focused on this because it was the most dehumanizing invention of our time.
"Raila, however, likes it because the more the dehumanizing the people, the more they see him as a Saviour. This is why he fought the NYS attempts to eliminate the flying toilets," Ngunyi stated.
The controversial analyst further stated that NYS began a "Ting-Ting Movement" where Kibra youth saved over Sh300 Million and started shunning the former premier. The Prof explained that after the youth were empowered they started abandoning Raila and even booed him in his rallies forcing him to act.
"Raila killed NYS, he had to steal the dream of youth liberation to survive," Ngunyi explained.
The political scientist warned that if Kibra returns to where it was back in the 90s where people lost lives due to crime, Raila should be blamed as he stole the dreams and dignity of Kibra people.
"This dream of liberation from poverty is what Raila stole from the youth of Kibra and from NYS. Every crime committed and life lost as a result of this 'theft' must be placed squarely in the hands of Raila," the analyst stated.
Ngunyi made the sentiments in his weekly column Political Watch.
