Mwingi MP Joe Mutambu Almost Shot by His Jubilee Counterpart Ali Wario in Kitui County

Mwingi Central Member of Parliament (MP) Joe Mutambu, who recently ditched the Wiper Party for Jubilee, has claimed that he was almost shot by Bura North MP Ali Wario on Thursday in Mwingi, Kitui County.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Mutambo divulged that he had gone to mobilise locals to register as voters in Mwanzele market, located on the border of Kitui and Tana River Counties before he was ambushed by Mr Wario in the company of other goons.

The MP disclosed that Mr Wario and his gang attacked the locals with stones, destroyed BVR kits compelling IEBC officials to flee for their lives.

“During the fracas, Mr Wario pointed a gun at me and threatened to shoot....he stopped when I dared him to shoot me and noticed residents were watching,” Mwingi MP told this journalist.

Mr Mutambu claimed that the Bura MP accused him of stealing his votes by urging Somalis from Tana River to register in Kitui.

The Mwingi Central MP reported the matter at Ukasi Police station and urged police to look into the matter claiming he is now fearing for his life.

On the other hand, Mr Wario has remained defiant stating that Mr Mutambu was “trying to steal his votes.”
