Nairobi Catholic Priest Father Fryda Exposed for Operating Secret Bank Accounts for St Mary's Mission Hospital

A group of nuns have exposed secret and shameful details of a senior priest in Nairobi who has been accused of defrauding a multi-billion mission hospital in the city.

The Assumption Sisters of Nairobi have been embroiled in an ugly dispute with an American, Kenyan-based priest identified as Father William Charles Fryda, regarding the ownership of St Mary’s Mission Hospital.

The nuns have now revealed that Fr Fryda irregularly opened and operated secret bank accounts without the knowledge of the bona fide trustees of the hospital.

Sister Maria Felix Mwikali, formerly Assumption Sisters of Nairobi Superior General told a Nairobi court that Fr Fryda was the treasurer and among the three signatories to an account opened at Barclays Bank of Kenya to run of the Hospital's operations.

Mwikali further told the court that the Priest took advantage of his position as treasurer and opened secret bank accounts that were not accessible to the other two signatories.

Fr. Fryda has since been suspended from the Ministry by his New York-based Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers Society after refusing to cede ground to the nuns.
