Nairobi Gangster Who Killed 5 Police Officers, Revealed

An annual crime report has revealed how a single gangster operating in Nairobi County killed five police officers in one year.

The 2015 Annual Crime Report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), linked Kennedy Mwangi alias 'Mwas' to the shootings that slayed the five police officers while injuring three others within the City.

Nairobi DCI boss Nicholas Kamwende, said the five were felled while on duty and their guns stolen between July and November 2015, making Mwangi one of the most feared gangsters.

According to Kamwende, the fearless gang leader was described as a smooth operator and remained mysterious to the authorities until he was traced and killed in November.

Authorities stated that Mwangi was believed to have shot and killed Constable John Meme of Kasarani Police Station who had responded to an alarm raised at night in October.

The notorious gangster also attacked Senior Administration Police (AP) Achilles Kiwanuka and made away with his Ceska pistol. Mwangi is also said to have seriously wounded two Intelligence Service officers and stolen two guns from them.

Police also linked him to the killing of Johnson Muimi who was a constable at the Anti-Narcotics department, after tricking him by ramming his car with a motorcycle along Juja Road in September.

According to the police, Mr Mwangi steered a gang that shot an Anti-Terrorism Police Unit officer, identified as Benson Karugu in Dandora. Also on Mwangi's list was Inspector Zadock Khamala, who until his death was in charge of Ngumo Administration Police Post.

The DCI divulged that the notorious gang leader was eventually tracked by Special Crime and Flying Squad officers who eliminated him at his Dandora hideout.
