Nairobi to Get Upgrade with New Modern Parking

Nairobi County will soon begin the construction of a multi-level car park at the multipurpose ground opposite Electricity House.

The car park which will have 3,800 slots, got approval last month by the Treasury's public private partnership unit.

The car park will primarily serve as a parking lot but will also be used on special occasions for large events like market days and skating tournaments.

The project is expected to be completed in two years after commencement.

The project will tackle the parking challenges experienced by motorists who usually struggle to find parking spaces within the Central Business District.

The bidders of the project were to demonstrate the ability to do the project which was clearly indicated in the tender notice.

The contractors will be expected to design, finance, build and operate the mixed-use car park facility for a period of 15 years and transfer it back to the county government upon expiry of the concession period.

The car park will be located at the junction of Taifa Road and Harambee Avenue and is wedged between Reinsurance Plaza, Uchumi Supermarket, Electricity and Jogoo House.
