Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Hits Out at 11 Jubilee Party Members of Parliament in Nairobi

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has disagreed with 11 Members of Parliament in Nairobi County who have oppossed his bid for governor since he declared interest to vie.

He added that these nay-sayers were declaring support for his rival former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and have been campaigning for him within the county.

Some of the Nairobi Jubilee MPs who have shown support for Kenneth include John Ndirangu (Embakasi Central), Waihenya Ndirangu (Roysambu), John Chege (Kasarani), James Mwangi (Embakasi North), George Theuri (Embakasi West), Benson Mutura (Makadara), Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji) and Maina Kamanda (Starehe).

The Senator expressed dissappointment that the MPs were from his Jubilee party and conveyed that their attempts to sway him from vying for the governor seat would not succeed.

Speaking during a political campaign in Nairobi's Eastlands area yesterday, Sonko maintained that he has been to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the JP and he would not be cowed into quitting.

"I have been a stounch party member and defender of President Uhuruespecially when he had a case at the International Criminal Court, but the moment I declared interest in the governor's post, some people felt I should not be supported," he complained.
