Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh Storms Nyayo Stadium Tallying Centre

Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh on Thursday afternoon caused drama after storming the Jubilee Party tallying centre at Nyayo Stadium.

Shebesh, who is seeking to retain her seat on a Jubilee ticket, claimed that there was a plan to rig her out of the race at Embakasi North polling station in favour of her competitor Millicent Omanga.

She forced the officials who were in the middle of the tallying process to halt the process as she expressed her disappointment in the exercise.

"We will not allow this to happen. I was leading and the Returning Officer decided to reverse my votes. That is not acceptable," she protested.

She was later escorted by police to the Nyayo Police Station where she was advised to address her grievances with the party.

"This is very bad and cannot be allowed to go on. Now I am going to the Jubilee Party headquarters to express my grievances," she asserted.

Shebesh's outrage came just minutes after chaos erupted at the Jamhuri High School which is the Starehe Constituency tallying centre, after incumbent Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda was announced the winner in the concluded nominations.

The polls for Starehe have since been nullified and will be repeated.

Earlier in the day, Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth demanded a repeat of the Jubilee nomination exercise citing alleged irregularities that marred the exercise.
