A Jubilee nominated Senator was on Friday night forced to lock herself inside a radio station after a group of rowdy youth ambushed her.
Senator Naisula Lesuuda was participating in a live interview in Serian FM, a local station based in Samburu, when the group stormed the building demanding to be let in.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Lesuuda said the youth who sounded drunk interrupted the proceedings by shouting and banging doors.
The Senator mentioned that they were forced to proceed with the interview behind closed doors despite the commotion which could even be heard on air.
Lesuuda said the youth threatened to burn down the media house if they were not allowed to move in, though their intentions remained unclear.
The situation was, however, rescued after another group of close to 100 people supporting the Senator arrived at the radio station and the police who managed to cool things down.
She later reported the matter to Samburu Central Police Station and recorded a statement for investigations to be conducted.
Lesuuda who is eyeing Samburu West parliamentary seat in the August 8 General Election, blamed the incumbent MP accusing him of hiring the youth to intimidate her.
“It's my opponents who sent people to come disrupt me. It's the incumbent Samburu West MP because am vying for that seat. They sounded drunk and others were vowing to burn down the whole place,” she narrated.
She thanked her bodyguard for restraining himself to avoid a violent confrontation and area police for responding fast and salvaging the situation.
