Nakuru Politician Ole Osono in Court For Shooting at Journalists

The ODM chairman for Nakuru county Peter Ndungunya Ole Osono has been arraigned in a Naivasha court on charges relating to an incident where he allegedly fired at journalists.

Osono was charged with incitement to violence and disobedience of the law as well as shooting at two journalists.

According to The Standard, the court heard that the suspect discharged a bullet from a revolver in a move aimed at bringing death or physical injury to journalist Raphael Mungem on the 22dn of May 2015.

Osono was further accused of shooting at Barnabas Asiba on the same day with the intention to kill or injure him.

He allegedly committed the two crimes last week Friday, when journalists were covering demonstrations by Oljorai residents over a piece of land they claimed had been grabbed by the accused.

The gun is said to be licensed.

The politician who was represented by lawyer Catherine Kitili denied both charges.

Naivasha Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora released Osono on a Sh500,000 bond and a surety of the same amount.

The hearing of the case is set for July 1.
