NASA Forms 10 Member Special Purpose Committee

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has formed a new 10 member Special Purpose Committee with two members from each of the affiliate parties.

The team is said to have been formed to ensure that NASA wins parliamentary seats in 12 counties marked as battleground counties during the August General Election.

According to sources privy to the plan, the Alliance is reportedly aiming at winning majority seat in the National Assembly to have a tyranny of numbers.

In the recent retreat in Kilifi, NASA principals resolved to effectively take control of policy making at all levels of the government especially if they form the next government after the polls.

This is part of a wider strategy to ensure that Opposition has a bigger say in Parliament compared to the current situation.

The Alliance is said to be considering modalities of how to front joint candidates in some counties to avoid splitting votes which will give their competitors a competitive advantage.

The parties have in the past failed to agree on which region each party controls with both Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Amani National Congress (ANC) claiming supremacy in Busia County.

Wiper, ANC and ODM have also claimed dominance at the Coast and have strong aspirants for the elective seats in the region.
