The National Super Alliance (NASA) has given its National Coordinating Committee and Technical Committee four days to come up with the coalition’s flag bearer
The directive issued by the coalition principals; Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula was meant to give politicians who seat in the committee time to campaign for the upcoming party primaries.
A member of the committee while speaking to a local daily indicated that the directive was also informed by the need to unveil a presidential candidate and running mate for the coalition to assuage the growing anxiety stoked by reports that the coalition was unable to reach an agreement.
“We are closing the chapter by Thursday and leave the rest to the bosses who will have the last call on the matter of who from amongst themselves will be the candidate and running mate,” the source stated.
The failure of the coordinating committee to give a recommendation to the principals by Thursday next week could see their term extended and their grass-root campaigns affected by comittee's meetings.
The coalition has in the past been ridiculed by the Deputy President William Ruto and members of the Jubilee coalition for lacking a political direction since they had not named their flag bearer.
The national coordinating committee has been working with the technical committee in advising the coalition principals and developing a campaign strategy.
The new directive comes a few days after Minority Leader in the National Assembly Francis Nyenze indicated that Wiper would ditch the coalition if Musyoka was not named flag bearer.
