NASA's Team to Be Unveiled on Monday

Opposition parties are on Monday set to unveil a combined team of representatives who are to finalise the formation of the National Super Alliance (NASA) in preparation for the August 8 General Election.

According to sources privy to the ongoing discussions, all interested parties will be represented by three members who will be tasked with coming up with the best team to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming polls.

The team, which is set to hit the ground running for the next one and a half months, will also be mandated with formulating rules to govern the new alliance as well as form NASA's structure.

KANU Secretary General Nick Salat divulged that the team, which will submit its report by end of February, will also work on sharing of positions in the much-touted Alliance.

“The team will look at variety of issues and is not limited to anything including creations of positions of leadership so that every part of the country will feel included,” stated Salat.

On his part, Ford Kenya Secretary General Eseli Simiyu confirmed the existence of the team but noted that the group will not choose the Presidential flag bearer.

“The group will work mainly on the rules of engagement, the issue of our presidential candidate is not a priority because all our luminaries agree that they will support whoever is picked as the flag bearer,” Simiyu was quoted by the Standard.

Close to 15 parties have reportedly expressed interest in the Coalition as they seek to dethrone the incumbent administration.

On Wednesday, the Opposition leaders together with other aspirants converged at the Bomas of Kenya where they made a declaration to work together in a bid to beat President Kenyatta.
