This is the New Technique Nairobi Robbers are Using - Police

Police in Nairobi have cautioned motorists to be wary of a new technique that thugs are currently using to rob unsuspecting persons.

Police Spokesman Charles Owino, on Tuesday disclosed that robbers were using a method referred to as "bump and rob". He said that in the last two weeks, about 10 people had been attacked using the technique.

Police records have indicated that some victims, including police officers, who stopped after their cars were hit into from behind were killed. Isolated cases of similar circumstances were noted along Mombasa, Jogoo and Kangundo roads in the last one week.

Owino urged Nairobi residents to evaluate situation and the surrounding before pulling over, in order to ensure that they were at a safe public place.

“We advise members of the public to be very cautious especially at night or in isolated areas. Additional police officers will be deployed in areas where such incidents have been reported,” he said.

The police warned the public about the trend, adding that  motorists should try and avoid driving alone especially at night.
