Nkaissery, Mucheru Accused of Planning to Rig 2017 Election

Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) has now dragged two Cabinet Secretaries into an alleged plan to rig the August 8 General Election.

The party through Secretary General Godfrey Osotsi claimed Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and his ICT counterpart Joe Mucheru were planning to use technology to manipulate the upcoming polls.

Osotsi claimed that the CSs were colluding with other officials including the IEBC Secretariat, Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndung’u and Gordon Kihalangwa who is the Director of Immigration and Registration of Persons, to rig the polls in favour of the Jubilee government.

According to the secretary general, the plan was being orchestrated by linking the recently launched Jubilee membership smart card to the electoral body servers.

"Jubilee Party’s launch of the smart card and the timing of their countrywide membership registration is designed to coincide with the ongoing voter registration to connect Jubilee election rigging experts to the IEBC voters’ database,” he claimed.

He further claimed the rampant cases of double registration unearthed in the IEBC register was a result of the plan to manipulate votes in favour of the government.

"Ten million of these illegally registered voters will fraudulently find their way in IEBC database as having voted for Jubilee Presidential candidate in August,” he stated.

Osotsi now wants the government officials to be investigated over these allegations.

"ANC calls for investigation in the ministries that handle ICT and Registration of Persons and more so the role of Cabinet Secretaries Joe Mucheru and Joseph Nkaiserry..." demanded the party.

Opposition leaders have on several instances alleged that there is a malicious plot by the government to rig the upcoming election.

The government has, however. dismissed these allegations as pure propaganda meant to discredit the electoral body and the poll results.
