Nomiya Church Archbishop Moses Okech Reveals Uhuru Kenyatta Might Have Hosted Impostors at State House

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday hosted a group of faithful believed to be members of the Nomiya Church at State House, Nairobi.

In an interesting twist, however, Nomiya Church Archbishop Moses Okech has distanced the church from the group that had come from the Nyanza region, terming them a bunch of imposters.

"The Nomiya Church Synod wishes to clarify that the group of imposters who visited state house yesterday allegedly to endorse Uhuru Kenyatta for the Presidency neither constitute the leadership of the Church nor represent the views of the Nomiya Church Fraternity," Okech stated.

Archbishop Okech stated that Caleb Olali who led the delegation did not hold any position in the church hierarchy as the Bona-fide leadership of the Church was led by Archbishop Moses Okech who took over following the demise of the late long-serving Archbishop Gideon Charles Owalo.

The Bishop also took a swipe at Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju stating that he was not a member of the Church and had no right in organising the meeting on behalf of the church leadership.

"Eng. Calleb Olali who led the delegation does not hold any position in the Church hierarchy. Raphael Tuju who we understand arranged the meeting is not even a member of the Church either," the Bishop's statement read in part.

The Church also clarified that they are politically neutral and church members have the right to take personal positions on different political issues.

Oketch warned against misusing the name of the church for selfish interests as witnessed on Tuesday, stating that the Church leadership would take legal action against anybody pursuing personal interests in the name of Nomiya Church.

On Tuesday, the group hosted at State House assured the President of their support, saying his leadership had fostered development in the Nyanza region and beyond. They also invited him to visit their congregation.

The President on his part urged the group and other religious leaders to help in preaching peace and unity.
