A police officer was on Monday arraigned at Nairobi Court for allegedly threatening to expose nude photos of a Nairobi businesswoman.
Nicholas Omondi was accused of attempting to exort Sh500,000 from Janice Mwende, failure to which he would send nude photos to her husband.
According to the prosecution, the officer sent a message to Mwende in February claiming that he had nude photos of her which he would post on the internet, if she didn't send the mentioned amount.
Mwende reportedly sent him Sh5,000 so as to calm the situation only for the officer to come back asking for more.
Driven by his thirst for cash, Omondi called Mwende in November and ordered for more money, and like before, the woman sent Sh5,000 which the officer declined to accept, demanding for more.
After being denied the additional amount , Omondi went ahead and called the woman's husband, reports Nairobi News according to police records.
However, Ms Mwende refused to be blackmailed and reported the matter to the police whose investigations nabbed the suspect in Voi.
He denied the charges and was released on a Sh50,000 cash bail with the case was set for January 26.
This comes weeks after another Administration officer was arrested and locked up at Karatina Police Station, for having an affair with a 15-year-old student to whom he severally wrote love letters.
