Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka Accuses Jubilee Party Secretariat and Administration Police of Causing Nominations Chaos

Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka on Sunday accused the Jubilee Party secretariat and Administration Police of causing chaos during the party's primaries last week.

He spoke during a press conference at Royal Gardens Hotel, Ol Kalou, where he expressed his disappointment at how Jubilee was conducting the whole exercise.

Waithaka said while President Uhuru Kenyatta had made it clear that the primaries would be free and fair and no aspirant would be handed a direct ticket, some people were compromised to manipulate the nominations in their favour.

Nominations for the ruling Jubilee party took off to a shambolic start amid long delays and claims of inadequate ballot materials in most of the 21 counties which had been scheduled to carry out the first phase of the exercise Friday.

Anxiety, confusion, chaos, and undue delays characterised the exercise across all the counties with voters and aspirants alike expressing their anger at what they termed as disorganised preparations by the party’s secretariat and national elections board.

This led to the party cancelling the exercise and issuing new dates for the same.

Kenyatta came out to admit that his party had not prepared adequately but assured voters that stringent measures would be put in place to avoid a repeat of the chaos.
