A dramatic scene was witnessed on Tuesday night in Nyeri County after a section of Jubilee Party supporters stormed Aberdare Country Club over an alleged plot to rig the upcoming nominations.
According to the supporters, some Jubilee aspirants in the county had acquired ballot papers for the party's primaries and were marking them in the hotel.
Tetu Member of Parliament Ndung'u Gethenji and his Chief Campaigner Fianju Mathenge were reportedly caught in the hotel and roughed up by the angry supporters.
Efforts by Kenyans.co.ke to get a comment from the MP were futile as calls to him went unanswered.
The angry youth accused Gethenji of meeting up with over 50 presiding officers in the upcoming nomination with an aim to rig the primaries.
The Jubilee Party is scheduled to conduct its nomination on Friday 21st April 2017.
Unlike its main competitor the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM), Jubilee Party intends to conduct its nominations in all the 47 counties on a single day.
