ODM to Hold Meeting and Endorse Raila Odinga as Presidential Candidate on March 9

Anxiety has gripped Opposition leaders in NASA after ODM announced it would convene a meeting on March 9 and 10 where Raila Odinga would be endorsed as the party’s presidential candidate.

Making the announcement on Sunday, ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohamed said the meeting would be held at the Kasarani Stadium.

“On February 7, the ODM central management committee resolved that since our presidential candidate Raila Odinga was endorsed by NEC and the National Governing Council at Bomas of Kenya, we will hold a National Delegates Conference to endorse him as flagbearer,” the legislator stated.

However, Mohamed’s announcement has raised concerns among coalition members who have questioned the timing of the move.

The meeting comes at a time NASA is engaged in a delicate exercise of picking the flagbearer among four leaders in the alliance who include: Odinga, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi

Coalition members claimed that the meeting could influence the former premier to be picked as the presidential candidate of NASA considering ODM had members in the 12 team committee that was mandated to pick NASA flagbearer.

The NASA politicians also claimed that the Orange Party had already endorsed Odinga as it's presidential candidate during different events.
