ODM Reveals Names of 6-Man Top Presidential Campaign Team

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has named a group of 6 top governors who will be at the centre of the party leader's presidential campaigns.

The announcement came soon after 850 ODM aspirants were awarded direct party nomination tickets to vie in the upcoming General Election. All six governors were awarded the direct nomination.

The six governors are Evans Kidero (Nairobi), Josephat Nanok (Turkana), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), James Ongwae (Kisii), David Nkedianye (Kajiado) with the Deputy Party Leader, Ali Hassan Joho (Mombasa) as the team leader.

The six, senior ODM officials say, will be responsible for mobilizing resources, raising funds and drumming up support for the presidential candidate within their regions.

National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-Principal Raila Odinga alluded to the new development in his address during the event. He told the aspirants with direct party tickets that their biggest worry, party primaries, was behind them and hinted that they were now free to campaign aggressively for the presidential bid.

"This day sets you free to do more for the party and for Kenya. On this day, therefore, we set you free to begin hunting for our presidential votes and your votes," Raila urged.

The former Prime Minister exuded great confidence in the party's chances of carrying the day on August 8th.

"Begin laying out meticulous plans for the August elections where we must get the majority of MCAs, MPs, senators and governors. Ultimately, we must win the presidency. I assure Kenyans we have a better chance than ever of winning and I am confident we will," the party leader concluded.
