ODM Stopped From Awarding Nomination Certificate to John Mbadi

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been stopped from awarding nomination certificate to the party Chairman John Mbadi.

The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) has ordered the party not to award him with the certificate after his rival Caroli Omondi challenged the decision.

The former aide to Opposition leader Raila Odinga had on Monday moved to the Tribunal stating that the party had ignored his appeal to nullify the Suba East nominations despite an order made by the ODM Appeals Board.

PPDT Chairman Kyalo Mbobu stated that the case would be heard on Wednesday, May 3.

“For avoidance of doubt, the tribunal will hear the main complaint on 3/5/2017 at 11 am,” Mbobu’s order stated

On Saturday, Mr Mbadi was awarded the ticket by the National Election Board despite the fact that the party's Appeals Tribunal had nullified the results of Suba East constituency over massive irregularities.

According to Omondi, the Appeals Tribunal had urged the Election Board to either to repeat the nomination process or award him the certificate.
