An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader from Homa Bay County, was on Sunday arrested in connection with the murder of a man identified as Jacob Ojwang' who was killed two weeks ago.

Kevin Ouma was arrested alongside four others at a hotel room in Kisii County, where they were allegedly hiding after killing the deceased.

Confirming the incident, Homa Bay Criminal Investigations Officer Joseph Tukisho stated that the four were arrested after police found crucial evidence.

"We managed to arrest Mr Ouma and his group after an investigation and operation conducted by our officers," Mr Tukisho said.

Mr Ouma was arraigned in court on Tuesday alongside four where they denied the charges. The others included: Lavinus Ahero Kwasi, Samwel Okoth Ouma, David Kwash and Godwin Onano.

However, the five will remain in police custody until January 9 after the prosecutor requested the court to push the hearing to the said date until comprehensive investigations are done.

Homa Bay County Police Commandant John Omusanga divulged that they were investigating whether any senior politicians from the County were linked to the gang that committed the murder.
