ODM Youth Leader's Business Burnt Down in Homa Bay

An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politician is counting losses after his business premise was burnt down on Saturday morning.

The shop belonging to Homa Bay County ODM youth leader Kevin Ouma was torched by unknown assailants who are also reported to have burnt five other businesses.

During the 4am incident, the arsonists are suspected to have stolen goods from some of the shops before setting them ablaze.

Reports indicate that they could have been targeting Ouma's outlet but ended up burning adjacent shops with owners claiming to have lost more than Sh500,000 property.

Confirming the incident, Homa Bay OCPD Esau Ochorokodi affirmed that investigations would be conducted to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

“We are investigating this matter to ascertain if the torching of the properties belonging to the ODM politician is political or not,” stated Ochokorodi.

He added that the assured that the assailants would be arrested calling on area residents to provide any information regarding the matter.

"We are investigating the matter and will ensure those culpable are brought to book," he affirmed.

Earlier in December, Nyali Member of Parliament Hezron Awiti suffered a similar fate after his premise was raided by goons who destroyed property estimated to be worth millions in Mombasa County.

The thugs raided Habo Agencies building located along Jomo Kenyatta Avenue and destroyed windows, computers and other equipment before they escaped.

Speaking at the scene, Mr Awiti said that those were the works of his political rivals, who were trying to intimidate him.
