Ole Ntimama’s Daughter Lydia Masikonte Ditches Jubilee for Governor Isaac Ruto's Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Party

The late William ole Ntimama’s daughter Lydia Masikonte on Monday dealt President Uhuru Kenyatta a blow after she ditched the Jubilee Party for Governor Isaac Ruto's Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Party.

Speaking on Monday, Masikonte stated that she opted out of Jubilee because she feared that the party nominations slated for April would not be free and fair.

"My late father held my hands and took me to Jubilee Party. But they have proven that they already have their preferred candidate.

"My manifesto is to ensure that the devolved system of governance is strengthened and we found that CCM is the only party fighting for the devolving of resources to the counties," she was quoted.

Prior to his death, the late Ntimama led a delegation to State House and promised Kenyatta that the Maa community would back Jubilee during the August 8 elections.

Masikonte defected together with eight Narok Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and they were received in CCM by Governor Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Ntimama daughter's move comes barely a week after Kenyatta formed a new team to campaign for the Jubilee Party in Maasai land owing to the rising revolt in the region.

According to a source close to the presidency, Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto are really concerned about the number of leaders defecting from Jubilee to ODM and other parties.
