Outrage as Gor Mahia Sacks Highest Paid Coach

Gor Mahia fans have expressed their disappointment with the club's management after it sacked head coach Frank Nuttall, despite successfully steering the team to its greatest achievements in the recent past.

Through a letter circulated to media houses and social media on Thursday, Nuttall confirmed that the club had sacked him after he declined to take a pay cut.

“The executive committee of Gor Mahia has terminated my contract today. The club wanted to reduce my salary by 50% whereas my contract provides for a 10% of my salary from January 2016,” he said.

The 47-year old, who boasts of 30 years of experience in football matters, expressed his displeasure with the club's management but thanked Gor Mahia fans for their support which earned him the 2015 Coach of the Year award at FOYA.

The Scottish tactician, who was signed by the team in September 2014, was the highest paid football coach in the country taking home Sh700,000 per month.

During his two-year stint, Gor Mahia won two consecutive KPL titles, finishing 2014/15 season unbeaten and winning the trophy with the highest record points, 78.

Under his stewardship, the European Football Associations licensed coach also guided the club to winning the League Cup, the KPL Top 8 Cup and took the team to the finals of Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) championship.

Following his sacking, Gor Mahia club supporters took to social media to vent their anger on the team's management.
