Parliament to Spend Sh32.7 Million on MP's iPads

The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) has today Wednesday begun the process of procuring customized i Pads for the Members of Parliament.

PSC has invited bids from eligible suppliers who will supply 545 brand new tablets for atleast Sh60,000 each, which amounts to Sh32.7 million.

However, it is feared that the total cost for the gadgets could be even more, putting into account the operation costs, The Business Daily reports.

According to PSC member Gladys Wanga the gadgets are set to be loaded with Standing Orders, Bills, Motions and committee reports, which she says will enable the legislators to keep up with their parliamentary business and also cut printing costs.

Malindi MP Dan Kazungu has supported the move noting that other arms of government have already gone digital.

The tender notice for the supply of the gadgets invites suppliers for the supply, delivery, installation, training, testing and commissioning of customized tablet computer.
