The driver of the car involved in the Sunday accident that occurred along Nairobi -Mombasa Road, panicked then switched off the engine moments before the crash, says witness.
The accident which happened at Sabaki near Mombasa Cement Company in Athi River, left four critically injured including both drivers, passengers and the truck driver's assistant.
According to an eye witness who spoke to the Star, the car was joining Mombasa Road from Sabaki Estate, when the truck driver tried to avoid hitting the car by changing lanes but noticed an on coming vehicle on the same lane.
He narrated that the car driver had switched off the engine in fear, remaining in the middle of the road before the truck ran over it.
Victims of the crash were taken to Shalom Community Hospital at Athi River town.
