Police Spokesperson Charles Owino was on Monday manhandled by protesters who forced him to join demonstrations against extra-judicial killings in the country.
Reports indicate that Owino was being driven in a police car from Vigilance House when he was spotted by the protesters comprising of lawyers, human rights activists, taxi drivers and bodaboda riders.
The protestors forced him to alight and join the march towards Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet's office.
Upon alighting, Owino's uniform was smeared with red paint as the demonstrators forced him to carry a decoy coffin used in the protests.
He reportedly joined the demos towards IG Boinnet's office where the coffin was dumped.
The lawyers who were joined by other human rights activists refused to be addressed by Owino and demanded to see Boinnet.
The protests were held following the brutal killing of human rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and a taxicab driver Joseph Muiruri. Police officers have been accused of killing the three.
